Alcohol eventually possessed me in the same way. Interestingly, cannabis is very manageable for me. My adult son however, has to treat weed the way I treat alcohol. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I do rely on cannabis medically, to treat nausea and appetite loss from colitis. It affects me recreationally because of the THC, but it's nowhere close to causing any noticeable adversity like Alcohol. Totally opposite for other folks like you and my son. It's an excellent example of how fucking stupid it is to lump all people that struggle with addiction in the same category and spoonfeed them identical recovery and treatment programs.
