Among many perhaps, but a lot of us aren't trying to mimic any experience. There are some very refreshing non-alcoholic beverages that we occasionally enjoy like fruit juice or soft drinks. (Non-alcoholic liquors are insanely expensive though) I think non-alcoholic bars are a great idea without questioning the motives of their patrons or proprietors. For some recovered/recovering people, drinking non-alcoholic beverages isn't a good idea, but recovery isn't a one-size-fits-all issue. That reality is uncomfortable for some 12-steppers because AA still tries to force their model on recovering people as universal, and it clearly isn't. Many of us break free and view sobriety differently. A large number of us don't fit the mold. I was grateful to discover many like myself on this platform.
