For some, suffering = victim hood. Their never-ending problems become a vital part of their identity and it allows them to extract attention and sympathy from unsuspecting acquaintances who aren't familiar enough with the individual to recognize what they're actually doing; siphoning compassion to fuel their cycle of "poor me". Social media is a great place to leach sympathy from our real and pretend friends.
Excellent perspective. Unnecessary suffering is an easy thing to latch onto!! (And authentic suffering deserves our compassion)
