I don't think being formally educated or having high moral character are mutually exclusive, though it's obvious some people believe that. We enthusiastically elevate uninformed carnival barkers to positions of power. What's the thinking there? Greedy and corrupt humans make better leaders if they're poorly educated? I see your point 100%. No vetting. No effort to measure one's psychological stability except through well-funded, opinionated media. It feels like morbidly wealthy players have invested a lot in making sure we keep our citizens stupid enough to tolerate unqualified leaders.
