I just started doing guided meditation last spring after downloading the Headspace app. I read a couple of books on mediation in the mid-80s from Eknath Easwaran that I really liked, but I was unable to get anywhere. I had one guided meditation while in alcohol rehab in the mid-90s where I could feel something happening, but it was a one-time experience. I was able to sense changes in my body, as well as a more relaxed emotional state, immediately after my first guided meditation on Headspace. Though it often feels like I’m just learning to count my breath and have my thoughts run free at the same time, I ALWAYS feel different, both physically and mentally afterward.
