I'm happy to award 50 claps to anyone that speaks the truth about 12-step programs and the fact that they don't work for everyone. I was lucky enough to just survive my addiction; after nearly a lifetime of struggling, my cravings just died after my last alcohol detox. (I've worked very hard to become more whole since that curse was lifted!) In 1999 I read Rational Recovery by Jack Trimpey, and he claimed that more people recover on their own than through 12-step programs. I've also read the same statement from other sources recently and I believe it, but I'm relieved that science and determination are forcing the field of addiction/recovery to finally evolve and develop successful 12-step alternatives.
Thank you for sharing.
