It seems unimaginable; however, there is a notable number of people in a developed nation like the US who missed the Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution and still hold on to a 19th-century interpretation of the Bible, complete with a talking snake and herbivorous polar bears that walked to the Middle East to get onto a life raft.
