It probably doesn't help to see countless articles/writers boasting about the physical changes and health benefits of being sober. "My skin cleared up!" "I had more energy!" " I lost so much weight, I can fit into my prom dress again!" Recovery is unique, and while I don't question the validity of these claims, I think they can be unhelpful if we're not reminded of the fact that our experiences in recovery are not universal. (My only noticeable physical benefit was not dying, but eventually I did become more healthy) It's really cool to see how you analyzed your situation and recognize how your relationship with food and eating has influenced your expectations about the physical benefits of recovery.
