It was impossible for me to not miss it, and it was so hard to quit when I did miss it. That void caused me to relapse every time. Addiction high jacks our perception in order to procure its fuel. Only those of us that have been injured by addiction would grieve the loss of hangovers, blackouts, dangerous detoxing and making asses of ourselves. (To name a few) Once the addiction embeds itself, we unconsciously filter out the horror, and replace it with jolly memories that trigger cravings. Ugh.
