It wasn't until I joined Medium and discovered articles about addiction and recovery, that I learned about the volume of people who overcame their addictions without using 12-step methods. I felt very alone until then. Imagine my relief after discovering so many inspiring stories. I ultimately learned that AA's success rate is not only ridiculously overstated, but statistically dismal. Yes, the program has helped millions of addicted people, but 5% to 12% success is hardly a chest-thumping statistic. Exposing their hocus-pocus is way past overdue. It's heartwarming to learn how many people find other ways to break free.
This is valuable insight to share, thank you!!!!!!
