It's tragic that you lost your brother to addiction, however scapegoating Rational Recovery is not helpful to anyone. "In the wrong hands" AA can be lethal too. Lots of 12-step people will blame the addict, attributing their failures to character defects or being constitutionally incapable. Addicts lose hope and drink themselves to death because they're too defective for AA's amazingly successful 5% to 12% success rate.
This writer published a great article about binge eating and a successful approach to resolving a serious addiction. You're absolutely welcome to express your opinion, but I feel compelled to challenge it. I used Rational Recovery and for the life of me, I can't see how it could be lethal. Addiction is what kills.
