There's a common thread of "us versus them" and "the rest of the world has everything wrong" that seems to bind people to cults. I was "convinced" to believe in the ideologies of a cult as a young man myself. Same doomsday shit, same fairy tales about escaping Armageddon while everyone else dies. This was a great read.
